Shane and Kelly MacDonald
Hello! Our names are Shane and Kelly MacDonald. We came to Honor The Brave during one of the darkest times in our lives. Shane had been injured on duty as a Deputy Sheriff and was wading through the difficult process of a medical retirement. His career of 17 years was coming to an end and for the first time in our adult lives, the future was completely uncertain. We knew it was time to relocate, back to our home town, but beyond that, we had no idea what our futures would hold. Having grown up with Zanna Wolfgang, and somewhat knowing her and Jeff’s story, I reached out to see if Honor The Brave might be able to help us with the home buying step. Zanna immediately returned the phone call. I was able to tell her our story, through some laughs and a lot of tears, but knew Zanna could relate. Zanna put us in touch with our Honor The Brave agent, Melissa Vallelunga and the process started rolling. We were so relieved that Melissa could also relate to our story, being a former Nurse and the wife of a First Responder herself. Zanna continually checked in along the way and within 4 months, we were able to close escrow on our home. We were not only grateful for the assistance from Honor The Brave, but especially thankful for the donation that they made on our behalf, to a First Responder charity of our choice. The lives of First Responder Families are forever changed once the uniform goes on, and Honor The Brave not only recognizes and understands that fact, but ensures that First Responders and their families do not feel alone. With the beautiful, hand-crafted flag hanging in our home, we have a wonderful reminder of our Honor The Brave community. We are forever indebted and grateful to Zanna and Jeff and the Honor The Brave organization.
